chains, and networks of trained local mechanics. Buffalo Bicycle Limited also offers users repair and
maintenance services via a retail network of shops and local mechanics. WBR has distributed over
700,000 fit-for-purpose bicycles and trained 2,500+ community-based mechanics. WBR is a

About the Project
World Bicycle Relief’s Strategic Information and Innovation (SII) team is responsible for collecting
stories, conducting research, measuring, evaluating, and reporting the impact of bicycles on rural
communities in our countries of operation: Zambia, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Kenya, Uganda, and
Colombia. Over the past two years, M&E Managers, together with the Research and Evaluation
Manager have collected both qualitative and quantitative data, including one year evaluation data,
project research data, and data related to bicycle market systems in Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia,
Malawi, and Ghana. The SII team has launched several new research projects, the findings from
which have potential to be disseminated and shared widely in support of the influencing agenda,
development of marketing and communications materials, and to share with international, bilateral,
national, and local sponsors. WBR seeks to decrease the time currently required to clean, analyze,
report, and share the data.
About the Position
WBR is engaging a Data Analyst for a yearlong consultancy to work with the Research and Evaluation
Manager to clean, process, and analyze the data WBR has collected over the past two years. The Data
Analyst should have, on average, 15 – 20 hours a week available to work with M&E Managers and the
Research and Evaluation Manager to analyze and prepare data for reporting, storytelling,
communications, marketing, program quality improvement and the learning agenda. The Data
Analyst will provide accurate analysis of data and findings to support the development of publications
and presentations, s/he will update program management dashboards with correct outcomes, s/he
will help file and organize data analyzed for ease of access and use. The Analyst must be able to
support work in the Central Africa and Eastern Africa Time zones.
Roles and responsibilities include:
- Analysis of data, including from household surveys (cross-sectional and panel), market
- surveys, and administrative datasets.
- Support Research and Evaluation Manager and Country Monitoring and Evaluation
- Managers during data collection activities, including training of enumerators for survey data
- collection.
- Assist with data cleaning processes.
- Conduct secondary research, including reviews of academic and non-academic literature.
- Contribute to drafting of research reports for dissemination to internal and external
- audiences.
Qualifications & Experience
- Master’s Degree in Economics, Statistics, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or related
- degree.
- At least 3 years demonstrated post-qualification experience with advanced data analysis,
- including of household survey data.
- Demonstrated experience with use of Stata for statistical analysis.
- Computer skills and experience using MS Excel, Outlook and Access
- Demonstrated experience with drafting research reports.
- Experience working in an academic, think tank or a non-governmental organisation setting.
Desirable
- Experience with research on mobility and transportation modes, rural livelihoods, education,
- health, and socio-economic conditions.
- Experience with fieldwork, and primary data collection.
- Experience with use of databases, such as SurveyCTO, Kobotoolbox, and ODK.
- Experience collecting and analysing qualitative data.
Place of Performance
The Data Analyst will perform the activities described above both remotely (at her/his place of
