The role is responsible for performing a variety of HR
operational and administrative functions that includes
implementation of HR plans, policies and procedures at
departmental level and proactive engagements with various
units of the business to ensure effective and efficient
delivery of HR solutions that support the strategy of the
business.
The position will report to the Manager – HR Operations.
Key Accountabilities
- Support the development, implementation, tracking and
evaluation of the HR business strategy in liaison with the
HR team members and other business functions.
- Provide day to day guidance and support to heads of
departments on all HR matters related to talent
acquisition, learning and development, employee relations,
performance management and other matters with regards to
people management in order to create an environment that
will enable employees to meet the set objectives and also
attain their personal goals.
- Attend departmental meetings across the Company in
order to communicate any HR developments and also capture
any issues that require Management’s attention.
- Conduct regular awareness sessions through departmental
engagements on the CEC culture, including the vision,
mission and values that all employees are expected to
embrace and uphold.
- Develop and nurture partnerships so that the gap
between Management and employees is abridged.
- Work closely with management and employees to improve
work relationships, build morale and increase productivity
and retention of staff.
- Ensure that all employees are fully informed about all
HR policies and procedures including any standing
instructions.
- Identify trends/patterns pertaining to requests and
needs that are brought out during engagements with
departments and initiate change to continually improve all
aspects of HR service delivery.
- Collaborate with other HR team members to develop or
improve policies, procedures and processes in order to
deliver effective and efficient HR solutions to the
business.
- Proactively support the delivery of HR Processes in
departments i.e., recruitment requisitions, transfers,
promotions, acting appointments, disciplinary and grievance
handling.
- Compile and analyze HR information from various
sources, including the HRIS, employee surveys, and employee
engagements, to promptly inform Management about human
capital trends and matters that require interventions
before they escalate into problems.
- Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and ad
hoc reports pertaining to HR operations.
- Demonstrate behavior in line with CEC values, standards
and expectations of a professional workplace.
- Participate in the budgeting process for HR Operations
and ensure that spending is within the approved budget.
- Visibly promote a positive HSE & risk management
culture and demonstrate behavior in line with the Company’s
HSE policies and standards.
To be considered for this role, you will be
required to have:
- Degree in Social Science, Human Resources Management,
Business Administration or equivalent.
- Member of Zambia Institution of Human Resources
Management.
- 5 years’ experience in Human Resources Management, of
which at least 3 years’ practical experience was gained in
an HR role and context of similar complexity.
- Good know-how and understanding of the Zambian labour
laws and globally accepted HR best practices.
- Good analytical and presentation skills.
- Proficient in the use of diverse HR Information
Systems.
- Extensive understanding of HR processes.
- Background of working within the electrical, extractive
or similar industry, and understanding of the technical
disciplines – specifically Projects, Processing, Business
Improvement, and Information Management.
- Good skills in influencing and working with senior
leaders across a multitude of disciplines.
